The Pirate Bay (TPB), Kickass Torrents and Other Torrent Users Will have to Uninstall BitTorrent Apps Following Warning Advisories from UK Internet service Providers (ISPs).
Last week the ISPs in the United Kingdom started sending out a 20-day final statement to all their users who used TPB, KickAss Torrents and other Torrentz or their proxy domains for downloading torrents.
The ISPs are also advising their subscribers to uninstall BitTorrent, uTorrent and other torrent clients. In fact one of the major ISPs of UK, Sky has launched a dedicated webpage for torrent users, explaining why it has signed-up to the Get It Right campaign.
The Get It Right (GIR) campaign think that the ISPs users should download copyrighted contents from the corresponding websites and not from the torrents websites like TPB, KickAss torrents, etc.,
The webpage reads, “Sky is supporting the Get It Right from a Genuine Site initiative.
“This is a government-backed scheme which aims to support Britain’s creative industry by informing people about legal sources of content, with the aim of reducing the illegal sharing of copyrighted material.
“By sharing illegally rather than enjoying it from legitimate sources, you aren’t supporting the growth and success of the content you love.”
The GIR also have their own survey website to ask their users to answer about torrents, P2P sharing and copyrighted contents.
According to GIR website “The Get it Right Educational Email programme is designed to educate consumers about what’s happening on their Internet Service Provider (ISP) account.
“The programme is to help to make sure they, or people that use their connection, are not infringing copyright and to direct them to sources where they get the content they want from genuine sites and services.”
While all this response for stopping the UK citizens from downloading the torrents is all right for a campaign, the GIR signatories can do little if any citizen is caught downloading such torrent. Also, VPNs, Tor, and other bypassing tools make it easy for UK citizens to download torrents.
